Dreaming with Death
December 11, 2024
'Dreaming with Death' is a conversation and immersive experience into the themes of death, grief and the afterlife, through the lens of dreams and expanded states of awareness. We will help each other harness the courage and understanding to face life, and death, with open arms.
Culture begins with the ability to share and discuss ideas and grow stories together. The foundational aspect of the Dream Party is learning language that allows us to share and respond to each other’s dreams in a way that empowers creativity, understanding and practical action.
A Dream Party is not just about dream sharing; it's a holistic journey of self-discovery, personal growth, and a supportive community that encourages you to embrace the bigger, braver stories of your life. It's a space for healing, creativity, and transformation, where you can move beyond fear and blockages into new realms of opportunity and growth.
Learning the Language of Dreams: A primary focus of the dream party is learning how to speak and write about your dreams in a simple and straightforward manner. This skill enables you to practice and share your dreams effectively, not only within the group but also with friends, family, and the broader community. This language is a versatile tool that can be applied to both dreams and waking life for problem-solving, creativity, understanding, healing, and personal growth.
Guidance from a Frequent Flier: Your experienced guide, Michaela, will help you decipher the deeper patterns and mechanistic nature of dreams, with the overall goal of empowering you to know that you are the only expert on what your dream means. Over time, you'll gain a better understanding of how dreams present themselves for various reasons. This guidance provides a valuable head start on your journey of dream exploration.
Supportive Community: The dream party is a safe and supportive space where participants follow essential guidelines, including non-projective feedback, speaking in the first person to avoid projecting meanings onto others, and respecting the dreamer's authority. Confidentiality is key, ensuring that dreams shared within the circle remain private unless the dreamer gives permission to share. You'll learn how to listen to dreams and respond to them, even if you don't have a dream to share.
Creative Integration: Expect to discover creative ways to integrate and play with your dreams. The dream party encourages building community who support one another's personal growth, healing, and creativity. It's a place where you'll be motivated to overcome fear and embrace new opportunities for growth, both within the dream world and in your waking life.
Increasing Lucidity: Participants will learn how to become more present and centered in their waking lives by paying attention to synchronicity, symbols, and signs from the waking dream. It's an opportunity to become more ludic in your experiences and unlock your potential in profound ways.
Today, dreams are mostly kept privately or within the confines of a therapists office, but for most of history dreams have been shared within communities and families as a way to ensure that people get the help and assistance they need with their most important messages, insights and callings. In some indigenous cultures, dreams were seen as 'wishes of the soul' which is directly related to mental and physical health, and it was vitally important to attend to those wishes; so important that the whole community was involved in helping one do so. Dreams have also been honored in social circles as dreams not only relay messages for an individual but also for larger communal purposes. For this reason it has been customary throughout to share dreams within community, often as the first activity of the day. In this respect dreams are honored and respected as important messages that beg fulfillment through action: the first action being sharing with community, the second being your community helping you to understand the dream, and the third being the taking of direct action in the world.
